The gifts given to the college and university by thousands of donors every year support both new opportunities and ongoing programs across the campus. In fact, as state support shrinks and educational costs escalate, we would be unable to maintain our high ranking as a world-class educational institution without the financial commitment our many alumni and friends make. The brief profiles presented here of some of our "major donors" (people who made gifts of $500,000 or more to Campaign Illinois ) demonstrate the variety of ways a gift can be made, and the different uses of the funds. The use is determined by a donor's interest and of course the university's need. What all these donors have in common is their love for the University of Illinois and their wish to share their good fortune with their alma mater. A common theme uniting all these stories is the perception that the years spent at the university helped these donors achieve their success.
"It is important for people to find out the many ways they can contribute to the university and how that can help with their financial planning."
