The College of Commerce and the University of Illinois have passed the midpoint of their fund raising campaigns, both in terms time elapsed and dollars raised. The commerce component of Campaign Illinois is $61 million. counting deferred and other gifts the college raised over $31 million through June 30, 1996.

Architiect's rendering of a possible new Commerce Instructional facility.
A major portion of the campaign is dedicated to improving facilities. This includes a new building and renovating Commerce West and David Kinley Hall. In October, at the Fall Meeting of the University of Illinois Foundation, it was announced that Arthur Andersen, LLP and Andersen Consulting, LLP have undertaken a campaign to raise $7 million for a new Commerce building. More will be reported on this gift in the next issue of the college newsletter, InSight.
We would also like to share with you our progress in other priority areas: faculty chairs and named professorship; academic programs, including gifts to the Research & Learning Centers as well as funds to strengthen existing programs and create new ones; and student aid in the form of undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships.
As you will learn in the pages that follow, there are many ways to make gifts to the university, ranging from the direct transfer of stock or cash to a variety of instruments for deferred giving. Many of our alumni have learned that by committing resources to a deferred gift now, they can receive both income and a tax break.
